PEI-Genesis’s production facility in Zhuhai, China has achieved two new quality management certifications: AS9100D and ISO9001:2015.
These certifications follow similar achievements at our sister factories in Southampton in the United Kingdom, South Bend, IN, and Chandler, AZ – all previously certified to AS9100C:2009 and ISO9001:2008.
These are the recognized standards for quality management systems administered through the International Standards Organization (ISO) and SAE. It’s required for documenting the systems that control the processes used to develop, manufacture and sell products.
Our AS9100D and ISO9001:2015 certification demonstrates our commitment to being a world-class supplier to the aerospace and defense industries,” Alex Tsui, Managing Director Asia, PEI-Genesis, said in a news release.
“This was a rigorous endeavor that forced us to reevaluate every process that we use to develop, manufacture, and support our products and customers. As a result of this effort, we have elevated our excellent quality process to a truly world-class level. We’re proud of our team for accomplishing this goal.”
Although it was developed chiefly for the aviation and defense sectors, AS9100D can be used in other industries when a quality management system beyond ISO9001 system is needed. Issued in 2016, this standard includes ISO 9100:2015 quality management certification.
This version of AS9100 includes the full test of ISO 9001:2015, but makes some key changes, including a new clause for product safety, and the inclusion of “human factors” as a consideration in corrective action and nonconformity management.
There are three steps to achieving this certification:
- Application for registration, in which an organization applies for certification, and provides information that lets the certification body accurately gauge the scope of the assessment.
- Assessment, which involves mandatory visits that comprise an initial certification audit.
- Certification, which is maintained through annual audits and recertification after three years.
This certification is evidence of PEI-Genesis’s commitment to constant, measurable improvement, said Euan Sheldon, operations director for the organization’s Asia branch.
“Our customers in the aerospace and defense industries demand flawless quality and we take our responsibility to serve them seriously,” Sheldon said. “We are dedicated to continuing to provide fast delivery and flawless quality that exceeds their expectations.”
